Nafúkaná Devina * Puffed-up Nine

There was a big conference of numbers taking place in Bratislava in summer. Bratislava had been chosen as the suitable venue because the distance the numbers from Europe had to take to get home was approximately the same for all.
Konferencii predsedala Devina, pretože bola najväčšia číslica, no treba povedať, že bola dosť nafúkaná, a to bezdôvodne, najmä ak si uvedomíme, že taká Päťka a Šestka boli spolu silnejšie. The conference was chaired by Nine as she was the biggest number and it has to be said that she was quite puffed-up and without reason too if we consider that, say, Five and Six together were much stronger.
Numbers discussed the most pressing issues of today, most of which didn't concern children, but we are going to mention one here nevertheless.
Out of the blue, Nine suggested that all numbers capable of being divided in two with no remainder left, namely numbers like two, four and two others, should be abolished. These numbers immediately set up a strong faction, calling themselves Even Numbers. Together they could better defend themselves, their life being effectively at stake here.
Nine further proposed that even numbers up to ten should be written as odd numbers incremented by one and preceded by number one, namely she wanted to do it as Romans did. So, for instance, eight would be written as 19, six as 17 and so on.
Even numbers faction elected Two as their Speaker so that the cheeky Nine would be shown that even the smallest number from among them could hold an important office. Invigorated Two took stand with confidence and opposed the proposal of the conference chair, saying that one would have to write more, if the proposal was finally accepted.
The children at school and the officials would not like it for sure. Moreover, one could easily confuse eight with nineteen, six with seventeen and so on.
Although odd numbers outnumbered even numbers, Zero took side with the latter, for she was seated next to Two, whose courage she greatly admired and whom she also found very nice.
Thus the proposal of Nine did not pass because five numbers voted for and five against it. One needed the majority to pass any motion, such were the rules of the conference and so it is in life too.
Such an important issue was decided by an ordinary Zero who has felt more even than odd since then.
