Šestka * Six

Šestka sa všetko snažila robiť dokonale. Six strived to do everything in a perfect way.
Keď napríklad počítala príklad z matematiky, vždy ho po sebe šesť krát skontrolovala. For instance, when she solved a mathematical problem, she always checked the result six times.
Večer pred spaním šesť krát preverila, či zavrela kohútiky na plynovom sporáku, zamkla vchodové dvere, aby ju nevykradli a poriadne zavrela dvere na chladničke. At night, before she went to sleep, she checked up the gas taps on the oven six times, locked the entrance door so that she would not be burglared and pushed the fridge door tight.
Takýto život bol veľmi únavný a šestka začala trpieť nespavosťou. V mysli jej večer krúžili myšlienky na to, čo ešte zabudla urobiť a čo neurobila dokonale a tieto myšlienky jej priam bzučali v hlave a nedali jej spať. Such a life was very tiresome and Six began to suffer from insomnia. The thoughts about what she forgot to do and about what she did not do perfectly were whirling in her mind and these thoughts were almost buzzing in her head, not allowing her to fall asleep.
Takto to išlo dlhší čas a Šestka sa od únavy celá poskrúcala. Cez deň zaháňala únavu jedlom a z toho jej narástlo bruško. Okrem toho bola Šestka zbláznená do kníh. Keď sa jej nejaká kniha zapáčila, prečítala ju i šesť krát. So it went for quite a long time until Six was all crooked. All day she fought fatigue with food and her belly grew quite a bit. Apart from that, Six was crazy about books. When she liked a book, she read it even six times.
One of the books she read was called "Just six numbers" and its author argued that the Great Mathematician who made this world, needed just six numbers to create it. All these numbers had weird names like Q and Epsilon and only some of them were regular numbers, like our Six. Moreover, Six did not understand many of the things written in that book, but she was flattered that there were just six important numbers in this world.
Šestka dúfala, že aj ona raz keď vyrastie napíše slávnu knihu, ktorú si kúpi veľa ľudí, no ocko sa jej smial, že písaním kníh si nezarobí ani šesták. Six hoped that when she grew up, she would one day write a famous book too and that many people would buy it, but her daddy laughed at her, saying that by writing books she wouldn't earn a stiver.
- Dnes už skoro nikto nečíta, všetci sa hrajú počítačové hry,- potvrdila ockove slová mama. - Almost no one reads nowadays, everyone is playing computer games,- her mum confirmed what her daddy said.
Knižka "Iba šesť čísel" priviedla Šestku na myšlienku, že azda na svete existuje práve šesť kníh, ktoré sú zo všetkých najdôležitejšie. Ak si niekto prečíta všetkých šesť, bude naozaj múdry. The book "Just six numbers" made Six imagine that perhaps there were precisely six books in this world that were the most important of all. If anyone read all six of them, he or she would be really, and I mean really wise.
Šestka šesť dní a šesť nocí v knižnici hľadala, ktorých šesť kníh obsahuje všetku múdrosť sveta. Dokonca v knižnici i spala. Six looked for those six books containing all the wisdom of the world in the library, for six days and six nights. She even slept in there.
No po týždni, bolo to presne na siedmy deň, si musela priznať, že sa jej to nepodarilo. However, a week having gone by, it was exactly on the seventh day, she had to admit to herself that she did not succeed.
